Cloudy Weather Days Equals Swatching Recess

The blogger gods have forsaken me!! For the last Five days, I've been plagued with horrible weather. Therefore, I've been unable to take proper product photos or swatches. I didn't want to go four days without posting, and , at Aki's expense, of course, here's a photo from our 2008 archives :D

Whiskey-$50, Giants Game Ticket-$40, Cigarettes-$5...Passing out while everyone is still partying- priceless (^-^)

This night was one for the record books. Aki's best friend from Kazakhstan, Almas, paid us a visit and this photo was taken on his last night here. We went to a Giants game, then hopped around a few bars before going home. Aki was wasted and passed out. I don't drink, so I was wide wake and took liberties with what I had a hand :P  The whiskey bottle and cigarettes belonged to Almas. The championship belt is Aki's, he used to be a pro kick-boxer back in the day. The best thing about this night was Aki sleeping through the entire makeover. Even after I took everything off, and wiped his face clean, the man still wouldn't wake up. I saved the photo as my screensaver, and called it a night. In the morning, when Aki woke, I asked him to check something on my laptop. He started laughing and had no recollection of last nights festivities.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Macaron of the Spring...Les Merveilleuses Laduree Spring Collection 2013

Spring has sprung! Time to play with our pretty pastels and soft hues. Les Merveilleuses Laduree Spring 2013 Collection captures the effervescent, romantic, and festive atmosphere of France in Spring.

The collection introduced a few limited edition pieces as well as some new permanent additions to the line.

First up, the Mini Face Color Trios: There were three Limited Edition trios released, retailing for ¥6,300. Isn't the packaging lovely?!

 Mini Face Color Trio 101

From left to right: swatches of  the Mini Face Color Trio 101.

  Mini Face Color Trio 102.

From left to right: swatches of  the Mini Face Color Trio 102.

 Mini Face Color Trio 103.

From left to right: swatches of  the Mini Face Color Trio 101.

I found the texture of the Mini Face Color Trios to be a little dry and stiff (101 being the driest), in comparison to the powder products in the permanent collection. Although slightly dry, all three trio's are pigmented, apply and blended easily onto the eyes or cheeks.

New and permanent are the Creamy Eye Color's, available in six shades, and retail for ¥4,200.

The Creamy Eye Color packaging is similar to Ysl's Touche Eclat; a plastic pen style tube, with a brush tip applicator, and click button bottom to disperse the product.

Four Pencil Eyeliners were launched with the collection, 101 and 102 being limited edition, and retailing for  ¥2,625.

From left to right: Pencil Eyeliner 101, 102, Creamy Eye Color 02, 05.

I passed on the Pencil Eyeliners in 01 and 02 because I have a million black and brown liners. 101 and 102 are just exquisite. 101 is a heavenly grey-based, lavender-blue, which sends my heart a flutter; I don't have a shade like this in my liner collection. 102 is a murky, tarnished, chartreuse-bronze; another complex and unique shade that I just adore.

Similar to the Pencil Eyeliners, I only picked up two of the Creamy Eye Colors. 02 and 05 really caught my attention, and I found the shades very pretty, especially 05.

Cream Cheek Base, limited edition, retailing for  ¥4,410. I love Spring lavender packaging of these Cream Cheek Bases!!

Cream Cheek Base 103 and 102.

I've reviewed these Cream Cheek Bases in the past (here), and they work marvelously during Fall, Winter, and Spring. But, once hot and humid Summer comes along, you're best bet is to use these as a base under a powder blusher.

From left to right: 102, 103.

Also new and permanent, are the five Lip Lacquers, retailing for  ¥3,360.

The Lip Lacquers are a liquid lipstick/lipgloss hybrid. I found them to be very moisturizing, but only lasted about 3 hours. Also, for those of you who may be wondering, they are not a stain.

 From left to right: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05.

And finally, my Laduree beauty member's gift with purchase: These chocolate cookies with almonds slices were delicious!

The blue macaroons are Laduree's seasonal Marie Antoinette; simply delectable.

Overall, I loved all the pieces in the Spring collection, with the exception of the Lip Lacquers; I like them, but I'm not in love with them.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Dance Baby, Dance! China Glaze Nail Lacquer in 'Dance Baby'

Spring is finally here! If you ever have the chance to live to Japan, you should definitely come in Spring. All of the Sakura trees are in bloom, the weather is great, and all the spring beauty collections are lovely.

To welcome the change of season, I bring you Dance Baby. China Glaze's Dance Baby is a glossy, cool-toned, medium bubblegum pink, with a creme finish.

I was surprised to find that on the nails, Dance Baby is darker than the way it appears in the bottle. Also, this lacquer's formula runs thick, requiring four thin coats to correct any streaks or bold spots. Four coats aside, Dance Baby is a beautiful shade for Spring/Summer and I love wearing it.

What's the first nail polish you wore for Spring?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

I miss you more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow! Addiction By Ayako Nail Polish in 'Miss You More'

The more I wear Addiction's Nail Lacquers, the more my love for these polishes grows. Addiction By Ayako's nail polishes are extremely pigmented, glossy, and all around stellar!

I lost the sun while photographing, so the color looks more red then it actually is. The photo of the bottle is a true representation of the polish.

Miss You More is a deep. vivid, medium pink. Sadly, Miss You More isn't part of the permanent line, and was only available in the Moroccan Rose Holiday 2012 Coffret. I've been wearing Miss You More for the last four days, and have received several compliments each day :)

What are some of your favorite medium pink polishes?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

I Don't What To DO What Is Wrongful, But I Do It Anyway! Chanel's Nail Vernis in Malice

On March 9th, I attended a friend's wedding and Malice is what I wore on my nails. I have a plethora of these seductive, deep, ruby reds, but I'm so enthralled with them that I just can't help myself.

Malice was love at first stroke, and has become one of my favorite Chanel lacquers! If you love dark, alluring, ruby reds, then Malice is definitely worth investing in!!!

What are some of your favorite Chanel polishes?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

My Week With Diorific Marilyn

For the past five days I've been on a red polish kick, and Dior's Diorific Vernis nail lacquer, in Marilyn, has satisfied all my needs.

751 Marilyn is a vivacious, pink-based red with a glossy, jelly-like finish; a classic red that can be worn year-round.

What nail polish are you wearing at the moment?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.
