Book of shadows Vol. IV is the latest addition to Urban Decay's limited edition palette series. This palette features 16 eye shadows (10 of these eye shadows are new and exclusive to the palette), a 24/7 full size Waterproof Liquid eyeliner (in perversion), a .18 fl oz Supercurl Curling Mascara, and a .13 fl oz Eyeshadow Primer Potion (original formula).

The Book of shadows Vol. IV also features a card with five QR codes, that allows you to access fives tutorial videos from your smartphone. Also included, is a small portable key chain speaker and a set of cables (USB/Audio) that allow you to connect the speaker to your cellphone.

In the photo above, you can see the built-in compartment for your smartphone on the lower left hand side.

Eye shadow names and color descriptions are listed below:

Colors are listed from left to right : Blue Bus, Gunmetal, Cobra, and Baked

Blue Bus: A frosted cool toned medium blue with a purple duochrome shimmer.

Gunmetal: A blackened charcoal gunmetal frost.

Cobra: A matte blackened dark brown with copper, gold and green sparkles.

Colors are listed from left to right : Bender, Gravity, Lost, and Hijack

Bender: A  frosted dark hunter green with gold shimmer.

Lost: A frosty deep bronze brown with a taupe sheen.

Hijack: A metallic greyish brown based aqua blue with a mint sheen.

Colors are listed from left to right : Midnight Cowgirl, Sin, Midnight Rodeo, and Crystal.

Bust: A grey based taupe brown with a tinge of purple satin.

Missionary:  A pinkish light beige taupe shimmer.

Skimp: A beige vanilla satin.

Urban Decay's Book of Shadows Volume IV offers a great selection of both color and neutral eye shadows. I find myself enjoying the the colors in this palette a bit more than in the Urban Decay 15 year anniversary palette.

My only gripe with the palette is in the packaging. The glue used to bind the decorative paper onto the palette  seems to be wearing off, thus scratching the surface of an entire row of shadows whenever the palette is opened. Also, the drawer slides out a bit to easily, so I need to either tape or tie something around the palette if I want to travel with it.

In the photo above, you can seen where the box is scratching the surface and dragging color along Zephyr, Crystal, Hijack, and Baked.

Beside the packaging malfunction, I love this palette. Some of the shadows are a bit on the sheer side (some times I enjoy a subtle sheer wash on color of the lid, not every look has to be "BAM!," here's some color in your face!!),  but they can be layered for a more intensity. All ten of the new eye shadows are gorgeous. Introducing the 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in this palette is genius on Urban Decay's part; for those who enjoy this liquid liner (present company included) will want to invest in more colors.

The Book of Shadows Volume IV retails for $64 and is available at urbandecay.com, sephora.com and macys.com
