Smoky gets in your eyes

I was in Ginza today, when all of a sudden my makeup senses started tingling. I was close to ESTINATION (a department store I often frequent), so I decided to make a quick cosmetic pit-stop...and boy was I glad I did!!!

While at the Make Up For Ever counter (one of three in Tokyo), I remembered that MUFE was releasing (or had released) a new limited edition palette titled 'Smoky'. I've been so busy as of late, that I had totally forgotten about it. You see, some time ago, I had put myself on the "email me when available" feature at Sephora; but after some time, I received an email stating that the smoky palette was not going to be released in the states. So, I began to tentatively scour over the promotional displays; with  no sign of any palettes, I decided to call it a day and go home. I was about to leave when I decided to press my luck and ask the MUA about the palette anyway.  Turns out that they had received the palette in the beginning of November (this is were I began to kick myself). Whilein the midst of self loathing, I almost missed her saying that she had one Smoky palette left- I believe this is when I screamed "I'll take it". So, I got the last MUFE Smoky palette. Talk about luck huh? I think I actually skipped along as I left ESTINATION :)

Make Up For Ever's Smoky Palette comes in a sleek gorgeous reddish burgundy purple duo-chrome reflexive case.

The palette features eight .03 oz/1g eye shadows, ranging from dark blackened shades to day time neutrals. All eight shadows are from the permanent line.

The eye shadows included in the palette are listed below:

 From left to right:  # 04, # 79, # 81 and # 80 in natural overcast lighting

From left to right:  # 04, # 79, # 81 and # 80 with flash.

# 04  A matte black.
# 79  A shimmery blackened deep plum.
# 81  A shimmery iridescent blackened navy blue.
# 80  A shimmery iridescent blackened pine green.

From left to right: # 122, # 127, # 126 and # 07 in natural lighting.

From left to right:  # 122, # 127, # 126 and # 07 with flash.

# 122 A metallic brown based orange copper.
# 127 A shimmery fawn taupe.
# 126 A shimmery beige.
# 07   A shimmery pearl white.

Also included in the palette is a good size mirror and two brushes; a flat brush (10P) and a tapered brush (16P). Both rendered useless and in the trash.

This palette retails for 6,090 yen (using the current exchange rate, that's $78.26) in Japan.

Overall, this is a purchase that I do not regret!! The sleekness of the smoky palette makes it ideal for travel. The included mirror allows for easy touch ups while on the go. Majority of the shadows have great pigmentation; with the exception of the black and purple, which require a bit more work. but to be honest, I don't mind that they are not as pigmented, since both shades give a great smoky effect on the eyes :)

Hope you've enjoyed this post : D
