Hello gals and guys,

Sorry for the absences! I've changed mobile providers (from Softbank to AU), and boy, are cell phones (along with everything else) in Japan expensive! Apparent;y, the only plan offered for the iphone 5 is the unlimited data and messaging for 7,600 yen; Au to Au is free, except between 9:00pm-1:00am (why this time frame, I have no idea?!), free incoming calls, but (and this is a BIG but) if you call anyone outside this provider, you'll be charged a whooping 21 yen per 30 seconds. No, you read correctly, 21 yen per 30 SECONDS! REALLY?! I mean, you couldn't give the customer the whole minute? This rate is just criminal. Criminal, I say! I wouldn't be surprised if these 30 seconds start as soon as you begin dialing. One of the things I dislike about Japan, is that it's not a consumer friendly country...sigh. So, to sum it up, unless you have AU, I won't be calling.

On a happier note, knowing that Black Pearl is one of my favorite Chanel polishes, Aki surprised me with this adorable case.

Yes, it's not a legitimate product release from Chanel, but it's cute nonetheless :P

What are cell phone rates like where you're from?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

  1. Ooooh, that's such a nice phone case - what a thoughtful present from Aki!

And wow, those phone rates are horrific! And also confusing... when I was living overseas in China, I would get so confused by the different options they offered, and how it was more expensive to call or receive numbers from different provinces :S In Australia, I'm so used to the fact that I pay $19 each month for $450 credit, and it's free msgs and calls to people with the same provider. And with the amount of included data, most of us just use messaging apps...

    1. I wish I would had captured my reaction when the sales rep told us the per "30 sec rates. I almost jumped out of my seat, and all I kept saying was "21 yen per 30 seconds!" Aki probably wanted to kill me, but I didn't care :P

  2. I salute to your man! He is so thoughtful! My man lacks that artistic capability of getting me cute and trendy stuff!!

since cell phone rates are so outrages, maybe that's why people do unlimited texting or whatsapp these days?

I am still on my iphone 4 and hesitant to upgrade to iphone 5 because I fear of a bump in cell phone rates... and with my iphone 4 come unlock that's why I wasn't charged the premium iphone rate yet.... but all those sneaky cell phone providers!!

  4. The rates are a killer here...that's why my husband is unwilling to change to a smartphone yet. We're both using those clamshell phones (AU) :-D
