Summer isn't over yet! Dior's Aloha and Paradise electric tropics nail duos are back!

Aloha is a bold fluorescent traffic cone orange

I just received an email from Dior, announcing that the Aloha and Paradise electric tropics nail duos are back!!!  So if you missed out the first time, here's your chance to grab these summer must haves. These polishes retail for $ 26.00...I know, I know, a bit much for a nail polish but Aloha and Paradise are stunning colors. Also, both shades are paired with a quick drying top coat( bonus, love a two for one). I was able to get my hands on Aloha( which I've worn almost all summer) but missed out on Paradise, so I'll be making my purchase NOW! Hope you're able to make your purchases.

Blushing for sleek Makeup

Hey my gorgeous lovelies, Today I was thinking about makeup(when am I not) and how some people are into certain products; for example, some people are into lip glosses, lipsticks, eye shadows, blushes, etc... So, I just wanted to share some of my vices with you, blushes(all forms) and eye products(i.e. eye shadows and eyeliners). I am a total blush and eye shadow fiend, yes, I love lip products and face products as well but these two products hold a special place in my heart. Now on that note, I want to share my sleek makeup blush collection with you all, so this will be a brief overview of the products, including color description and swatches.

Sleek makeup in a drugstore cosmetics brands based in the U.K. who strive to provide a comprehensive range of cosmetic products to various ethnic backgrounds, especially catering to Asian,  Latin, Caribbean, and black African women.

From left to right: Rose Gold, Pomegranate, Sunrise, Santorini

Rose Gold:  a pretty pinky-peach with a golden sheen shimmer. This may be a more price friendly alternative to Nars' Orgasm blush, although Rose Gold leans more peach and has more of a gold sheen to it . Perfect color for spring and summer.

Pomegranate:  one of the shade types I love to wear during the colder seasons. Pomegranate is a deep raspberry with a pink and gold shimmer. One of my favorite Sleek blushes!

Sunrise: First off, I just want to say that I got all excited just to write about this blush. I love, love, love sunrise, another favorite!! Yes this color does look a little scary in the pan(actually sunrise looks bronze in the pan), especially for our gorgeous pale ladies (just use a light hand with this blush), but don't be afraid to try this color out. Sunrise is a lovely plummy pinky russet red shade with brown undertones and shots of gold, does that make sense??? This is amazing shade for fall and winter and I can't wait for fall so I can rock sunrise out ; )  Wow, I kinda went of on this one huh?

Santorini: Santorini is part of sleek's Mediterranean collection and limited edition. This blush is not an electric matte hot pink, it's an electrified matte hot pink! Just like sunrise, don't let the intensity of this color intimidate you, Santorini is a fun shade to wear, especially during summer.

From left to right: Scandalous, Pixie Pink, Flamingo, Sahara

Scandalous: This came out with the Valentine's collection at the beginning of this year,  Scandalous is a matte pur'ee(pardon the pun) tomato red, kind of reminds me of Ronald McDonald in some weird way. This color would look great on various skin tones, especially darker skin toned ladies.

Pixie Pink: A matte pepto bismol/bubblegum pink. This is a great year round shade. So if you're going for that cute, sweet, innocent girly look, then this is the blush for you. I love this color and wear it a lot. I'm just not sure how much of "innocent"  I'm really pulling off  ; P

Flamingo: This blush is exactly that, a flamingo pink. this was the exact color of the flamingo printed shower curtain my mom had in her bathroom in the earlier 90's when we first moved to Miami (traumatized), but all therapy aside, this is a lovely shade and can easily be worn by all skin tones, another perfect year round blush.

Sahara: a straight up terracotta color and matte. Love this color for autumn. I truly believe this color could work for a variety of skin tones, it just depends on the kind of hand you use.

From left to right: Flushed, Coral, Pan-Tao

Flushed: A redden berry matte tone. Another shade I love, Flushed provides a perfect romantic finish to your look. Great for the winter season, who knows, maybe you'll be wearing flushed this holiday season while being kissed under the mistletoe.

Coral: Coral is nowhere near anything coral, actually, it's more of a burnt orange; and has a matte finish. Another autumn side, and even though thanksgiving isn't celebrated in Japan :'(  , I'll be having some KFC on that day and you better believe I'll be wearing coral.

Pan-Tao: This blush was part of the Avoir La Peche collection and is limited edition. Actually, I checked the sleek website and Pan-Tao is no longer available. You may still be able to find this blush through other avenues, so even though this product is no longer available, I'll still be giving you my TWO DOLLARS !! Pan-tao is a matte bright orange peach, orange creamsicle color. This is a color I enjoyed wearing this spring and summer.

Now, if you're not in
Europe or in an area where Sleek cosmetics are sold, you can buy these products online at: Sleekmakeup.com. Sleek does offer international shipping at a flat rate of $13.50, some of you may feel this is a bit much, but trust me, I've seen worse and this is actually pretty reasonable since you do get your items in a timely manner and the packaging is cute. Now, since we're on the subject of packaging, t
he only qualm I have is that the compacts can be a little difficult to open; thus, resulting it nicking the product (or your polish)once you get these bad boys open. So remember, Exercise a little patience when opening (wish I could follow my own advise, but I'm just tooooo impatient ). By the way, in case you were wondering, Sleek makeup does not test their products on animals (A huge bonus in my book)!!

Overall, sleek makeup is an excellent drugstore brand! All the blushes are highly pigmented and wearing amazingly (I get about 8 to 9 hours of wear).

So finally, I leave you with a little bit of wisdom, as Confucius once said, "it is sometimes easier to build up a product then it is to blend it away", ...Okay, so maybe Confucius really didn't say that and it was just me, but the principle is just the same :P

  Me wearing sleek's Pixie Pink.

I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful!

When it flakes it pours: Revlon Grow Luscious Review

Three weeks ago, I was going to Akihabara to meet up with a friend of mine. As I was walking to the designated rendezvous point, I spotted the Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara on display in a little boutique outside the station. I was excited to find this mascara in Japan, so of course, you know I had to go in and take a closer look...

In reading the packaging, The Revlon Grow Luscious claimed to "not only make lashes look longer and lusher, but the mascara's formula also aids in the growth of lashes, thus, improving in their overall appearance and condition with every use"

Well, my lashes are already long and pretty full (blessed). People are always asking me, "are your eyelashes fake? Can I touch them?" (okay, but odd...), but what the hell, I'm greedy, so I'll buy into the marketing and purchase two! I bought the Revlon Grow Luscious waterproof formula in blackened brown and blackest black(normally, I'm not a fan of waterproof mascaras, even though I own a lot : P  but this summer has been exceptionally cruel, so it's better to be safe than sorry!).

First impressions (at the register), WHAT!!! How much are they?! In the states, drug store mascaras cost
about $8.00 on average ( rounding up here), in Japan, not so much the case. Makeup in Japan, whether it be drugstore or high-end, is EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!! you'll pay the same price for drugstore cosmetics in Japan as you would for high-end brands in the states. These little babies were 1,600 yen each, that's $20.86 (based on the current foreign exchange market). After a slight one on one with my wallet, I made my purchase and went along my merry way (3,200 poorer might I add)...

Now, onto the REAL first impressions, The first thing you'll notice with this mascara is the massive brush, it's huge. The brush is comparable to that of Mac's Opulash and Dior's diorshow mascara. Revlon's brush is a bit bigger and thicker than mac's, but Dior's bristles are more dense in comparison to the Grow Luscious. Grow Luscious may not be a favorite of ladies with shorter lashes, due to the fact that it will require a bit more work and possible mess to get the desired effect.

Left: Grow Luscious Right: Opulash  Left: Grow Luscious Right: Opulash
Left: Grow Luscious Right:DiorShow  Left: Grow Luscious Right: DiorShow

I didn't see much of a difference in that department. What I did like, is that it did do a great good at fanning out my lashes, but that's about all I liked. This mascara has more flakes then a Kellogg's cereal! I found myself picking black pieces from my under eye area and cheekbones. Also, Grow Luscious is a non-waterproof waterproof mascara!! I put the Grow Luscious on the "fitness" test, Basically, I wore it to the gym to see if it could withstand all the sweating. After the end of a two and a half hour workout, this mascara traveled all over my under eye area (huge fail!!). Actually, this mascara smudged every time I wore it, so unless you're into raccoon or panda eyes (which may be cute), I wouldn't recommend this mascara. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the improvement/growth benefits that this mascara claims to do for ones lashes; since I stopped using the Grow Luscious after two weeks of use, due to all the smudging and flakes.

The only reason I'm not entirely upset with this purchase is that I don't mind supporting a company that doesn't test on animal, so my purchase wasn't a complete waste : D

Here's a photo of me out with some friends and apparently the Revlon Grow Luscious on my right eyes seems to have called it a night on me :'(

I'm glad it's your Birthday...Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary Palette

IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE!!!!!!  Okay, breathe Liz, breathe ...So, I've been waiting to get my hands on the Urban Decay 15 year anniversary eye shadow palette (limited edition!!) ever since it hit the company’s website in July.  Unfortunately, Urban Decay isn't available in Japan :'(  ,  But lucky for me, I have a few enablers ( i.e. friends and family) in the states who are willing to send me occasional care packages filled with delectable treats, love you guys! (^3^)

First, I'd like to say that I am glad to see that all 15 featured shadows are new releases. Urban decay, you really need to put the "Smog" eye shadow down, I have enough of this shadow to last me six lifetimes. I found that these shadows have great color payoff, with the exception of  tainted, which requires a little extra tlc to achieve the same pigmentation on the lid as seen in the pan. I've  swatched all 15 shades and listed them below with color descriptions , enjoy : )

Color descriptions from left to right.

Midnight Rodeo: a taupey pink bronze metallic frost with some glitter
Midnight 15: a mushroom/oyster pearl frost with a slight tint of pink
Vanilla: a golden yellow white shimmer
Flow: a soft peach shimmer/frost
Chase: a medium metallic bronze

Tainted: a soft lilac with gold shimmer
Junkshow: a fuchsia with a slight lavender duochrome
Omen: a purple blue duochrome shimmer
Evidence: a shimmery deep sapphire blue
Deep End: a shimmery teal

Deeper:  a golden bronze shimmer
M.I.A.: a brown with golden shimmer
Ace: a dark gunmetal with a slight blue shimmer
Blackout: a matte coal black
Half Truth: a grayed violet purple shimmer

Onto the packaging! The packaging itself is gorgeous ;) . The two toned mirrored palette ( the lid being a gunmetal color and the tray in Urban Decay's signature purple) is encrusted with two plastic purple gems in the companies initials. I found the laser cut filigree design along the sides of the lid, to be reminiscent of the limited edition Urban Decay lipstick caps (Still available).  Also, the lid can be removed entirely, revealing a modest (large) size mirror on the back. Now, if you're a sucker for packaging and multi-tasking products, you'll love the fact that once you've worked your way through these lovely eye shadows, you can simply remove the tray and convert the palette into an attractive velvety lined storage box, BONUS!

Overall, Urban Decay's 15 year anniversary eye shadow palette offers a variety of great colors, 15 (full size) eye shadows with excellent pigmentation, texture, and quality. This palette is well worth the $55 investment and I highly recommend it. At this moment, the anniversary palette is still available at sephora.com and urbandecay.com, but don't sit on it for too long, since it is a limited edition item. Pleasant shopping :)
