Come Rushing Over Me...Revlon Tidal Wave Top Speed Nail Enamel

This bottle has received so much love, the lettering has rubbed off.

I'm aging myself right now, but I've had Revlon's Top Speed Tidal Wave for 15+ years. I'm amazed at how well the formula has held up.

And still, I wasn't able to capture Tidal Wave is all its glory.

Tidal wave is an electrified, metallic, deep teal duochrome with flashes of blue and turquoise, and is loaded with micro turquoise shimmer. A fun, flashy, and fetching shade to wear, Tidal Wave will definitely get your nails noticed (and in a good way).

After all these years, I'm amazed at how well the formula has help up. With the way it applies and wears, you wouldn't think this polish was over 15 years old. I wish some of my newer lacquers performed as well as Tidal Wave.

You're The Inspiration...Revlon 520 Muse Nail Enamel

Hello ladies and jellyspoons! Today, I bring to you Revlon's nail enamel in 520 Muse. I got this "atypical" darling, several years ago, while vacationing in Santa Monica.

Curses, I should have filed my ring and pinky nails down more to match the newly broken nails of my index and middle finger.

I'd describe 520 Muse as an avocado dip that hasn't been unfridgerated for three hours. Not the most appealing color description, but I think Muse is a beautiful shade. I'm always attracted to these kinds of drab, muted, dirty, murky shades of polishes.

Revlon polishes are my favorite among the drugstore beauty brands. Muse's formula, application, pigmentation, and wear time (about 5 to 6 days, depending on how savage I'm with my hands) all score perfect tens!

Some may find shades like muse downright ugly, but I believe a duck can also be as beautiful as a swan.

I've Become A Captive Of My Own Enamel...Revlon Captive Coral Nail Enamel

Don't all these magnificent colors in the bottle remind you of an Autumn leaf?!

What a glorious nail polish Captive Coral is! The colors are so complex, that I don't know where to begin in its description. Captive Coral is a mixture of a captivating, dark antiqued-gold, russet orange, dark coral pink duochrome with flashes of green, purple, and dark mustard; the only thing this nail enamel is missing is the kitchen sink!

To date, I have to say that Captive Coral is the MOST DIFFICULT polish to capture in photograph, and begrudgingly, I failed.

Although none of these picture show the true beauty that is Captive Coral, I hope you can see a small glimpse of it.

Not satisfied with these images, once I get my new lens (yes, I finally ordered it!), I most likely will revisit the photos.

Captive Coral was a limited edition nail enamel, and I have no idea how old it is. I just know I've had it for a long time. But, it truly is one of the most unique polishes in my collection.

A Typhoon Halfway Around The World...Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel

From the vault of my Revlon nail polishes, I bring you the long discontinued polish, Typhoon. I've had this polish for ages, and the formula is still good.

Typhoon is a shimmery, deep, medium blue with a barely-there violet sheen. Opaque in one coat, typhoon wears for 4-5 days.

Typhoon is a pretty shade of blue, and a perfect shade for Summer; I love the contrast this shade creates when paired with a tan, and wearing something white.

A Matte-r Of Life Or Lipstick...Revlon Matte Lipsticks

Last Saturday, I wore Revlon's Strawberry Suede on an outing that motivated me to rediscover my love for my Revlon lipsticks. Back when I was a little "beauty tadpole," swimming up and down the beauty isles of Rite Aid and Walgreen's, a Revlon lipstick was my first beauty purchase (and, the first cosmetic brand I got into)...and, after many, many moons, it's still my favorite drugstore brand.

Ch Ch Ch Ch Ch Cherry Berry!

Revlon's nail enamel in Cherry Berry (280) was my polish of choice for V-day.

I applied two coats of Cherry Berry.

Cherry Berry is a magenta-based, cherry-red with a creme finish. Not a terribly unique color, but the polish is insanely pigmented (basically opaque in one coat) glossy, and wears beautifully for five days.

The Toffee-Nosed Polish...Revlon Nail Enamel in Totally Toffee!

Totally Toffee is a warm, chocolate-brown with a shiny creme finish. The formula is lovely (although, it's darker on the nails than it appears in the bottle) and opaque after two coats.

I love the rich color of Totally Toffee, and it's a perfect shade for Fall!

Which Side Your Lips Are Buttered On...Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Swatches

Not that long ago, Walgreens.com was having a bogo 50% off the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. Always one to capitalize on a bargain, I purchased the remaining 7 shades on my Lip Butter "to get' list.

I must say, the Lip Butters have gotten a lot of mileage this Summer.

Out of the seven new additions, my favorites are: Berry Smoothie, Lollipop. Peach Parfait, Tutti Frutti, Candy Apple, and Cherry Tart...basically, all of them.

A Photo Does Not Blush, But these Creams do! Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blush Swatches

Some time ago, my good friend Ari gifted me the PhotoReady cream blushers in Pinched 100 and Coral Reef 300. I liked them so much, that I wanted to complete the trio, and ordered Flushed 200 from Walgreens.com.

The texture of these blushers is non-sticky (somewhat dry, resembling a cream-to-powder formula), but the finish is a soft, translucent glow.

From left to right: Pinched, Flushed, Coral Reef.

Pinched: a warm, nude-peach with shimmers.

Flushed: a blue-based fuchsia.

Coral Reef: a blood-orange coral.

I've REALLY enjoying all three of the PhotoReady cream blushers (especially Coral Reef and Flushed) this past week. I love customizing the colors by layering them over one another, especially Pinched; if applied lightly, it can work as a highlighter, and looks pretty over Flushed and Coral Reef.

I Hate To Ask, But Are Nail Polishes Electric? Revlon Nail Enamel in Strawberry Electric

Unbeknownst to me, I own two bottles of Strawberry Electric (I don't even remember purchasing the first one). While applying the polishes side by side, I found one was slightly deeper in color. Today's mani is the lighter of the two.

I keep breaking my nails sparring with Aki. his time it was my index and middle finger :(

Strawberry Electric is an electrified, warm, reddish-hot pink with violet and fuchsia shimmers. Opaque in two coats, I get about 4-5 days of wear before seeing a single chip.

The Texture You Love Without the Cholesterol! Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Swatches in Pink Lemonade, Juicy Papaya, Sorbet, Wild Watermelon

Last Friday, I received another beauty parcel from my best friend, and among the cosmetic rubble, he slipped these lippies into the box.

From left to right: Pink Lemonade, Juicy Papaya, Sorbet, Wild Watermelon.

Pink Lemonade: (The sheerest of the four) is a yellow-based, warm-toned, soft pink.

Juicy Papaya: a peach-coral.

Sorbet: a bright, cool-toned fuchsia.

Wild Watermelon: a bright watermelon-red.

I've only had these lip butters for a few days, but I'm already in love with Wild Watermelon. I like the balmy-texture and translucency (the opacity can be built up) of Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butters, and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of these four new shades.

A Nail Polish Takes A Punch, and Hits Back With Four Coats! Revlon Nail Enamel in Punchy Peach

Punchy Peach is a vibrant peach, with shocking pinkish-violet shimmers.

Natural light.

The formula is watery-thin, and even with four coats, the nail line still peeks through.

Indoors.

However, it applies well, drys quickly, and last about 3 to 4 days without chipping. Punchy Peach is a unique and fun shade to wear during Spring/Summer.

With flash.

Laser Lavender, Revlon Nail Enamel!

Revlon's Laser Lavender is a semi-sheer, lavender with sky blue shimmers, and a greenish-turquoise duochrome finish.

Natural (overcast) light.

The formula is thin, and requires three to four coats, but the enchanting color of Laser Lavender is well worth the effort.

With flash (the nail of my ring finger is a little shorter, due to a dicing accident six days ago...ouch!).

Sadly, Laser Lavender was a limited edition release from way back when, however, you may be able to find it online.

And Lead Me into Temptation...Revlon's Nail Lacquer in 'Tempted'

Tempted is a radiant, dark fuchsia with silver, red, and hot pink shimmers. It's a shame that this was a limited edition polish, because it's simply beautiful!

Indoors.

These photos don't do Tempted ANY justice. The shimmers really make the polish sparkle, and come to life.

In sunlight.

Blackberry Stains

I've had this polish for so long, that the lettering has rubbed off :P Revlon's Blackberry is a sophisticated, deep, bronzed rose-red shimmer. The formula runs a little on the thin side; however, you can achieve the same opacity as the bottle with three coats. Three coats may be one coat too many for some, but Blackberry applies smoothly, streak-free, and has a lovely glow.

Love at First Bite! Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

I'm totally smitten with Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains! I was able to procure these lovely lippies, thanks to the ever so sweet Justine from sakuralovely.

I found the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains to be beautifully pigmented, glossy, moisturizing, and wear for about 4-5 hours before fading. A word of advice, when using the darker shades, make sure your lips have been prepped (i.e. exfoliated and moisturized) prior to apply to avoid any unattractive faded patches :O

These balm stains do have a subtle minty scent, and feel slightly reminiscent of TheBalm's 'Read My Lips' lipsticks, but without the repulsive dental office scent.

Revlon Moon Drops, 'Iced Coffee, Copperglaze Sienna, and Copperglaze Brown' Lipsticks

When it comes to drug store lipsticks, Revlon has to be my favorite brand in the states. I was going to swatch all my Revlon lipsticks, but decided to divide them into their proper lines.

Up first (and the ones I own the least of) are the Moon Drops Lipsticks.

The shades I own are: Iced Coffee 360, Copperglaze Sienna 320, and Copperglaze Brown 335. I used to have Blase Apricot, Orange Flip, and 24K Orange, but I finished them about two years ago; if you're into orange lipsticks, I highly recommend them! Revlon Moon Drops lipsticks retail for $8.99.

These lipsticks are very moisturizing, glossy and extremely comfortable on the lips. They last for about 5 to 6 hours. Moon Drops do have a perfume scent, which doesn't bother me, but it may turn some of you off.

Sadly, Iced Coffee, Copperglaze Sienna, and Copperglaze Brown have been discontinued (Why, God?! Why?!), but I did an online search and they are available on amazon.com and ebay.
