400 Blows...More Like 400 Coats! Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Blow

Hey guys!

Sorry for not posting these last few days, but you know how it goes...busy, busy busy!

Indoors in natural lighting.

On Thursday,  I painted my nails with blow, one of my newest Illamasqua nail varnish additions. Blow is a creamy pastel lemon yellow. I love Illamasqua polishes, and I've always praised them for their top quality and brilliant performance...but blow has to be the first varnish to disappoint.

With flash.

Blow's formula is extremely thick and a little goopy. Application was painstakingly difficult and frustrating. After two coats, I still had streaks, four coats took care of all streaks, but now I had to deal with bold spots. I had to apply six coats in order to achieve opacity.

I love the color of blow, but boy do I hate applying it! I'm so glad I paid £7.50, instead of the retail price of £13.50. I probably would have felt somewhat disgusted with myself if I had paid full price. Ironically, Blow definitely lived up to its name and did just that : (

What is your favorite yellow nail polishes?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Skin as white as snow, Lips as red as the blood, and Hair as black as ebony.

A booklet that was given to us when we bought our tickets.
Hey guys,

I just returned from having seen Snow White and the Huntsman...now, one of the many things you don't know about me is that I'm a huge lover of fairy tales and fables. So, when I heard of the live action film adaptation of Snow White, I was intrigued (and somewhat fearful) to see how they would breath new life into this fairy tale classic...and surprisingly, I liked it!

I enjoyed the acting, special effects, the wardrobes, and of course the makeup!

For those of you who may not know (I don't want to assume here :D)...going to the  movies is quite an experience in Japan.

Buying your ticket: In Japan, they have reserved seating. After you've paid for your ticket, the cashier will show you a seating chart for your movie, let you know what seats are available for your selection.

Heading on over to the concession stand for our eats and drinks. You'll find an array of tasty treats like: popcorn (by the way, they don't offer extra butter...shame, I do so enjoy clogging my arteries), caramel corn, churros, a limited selection of  boxed candies, and various other snacks. One thing I do miss are pretzels and nachos...god do I miss the nachos!! The beverage selection is basically the same, except they also sell beer. I wasn't surprised to find alcohol being sold at the movies, since I'd see it before in Europe.

Programs! Get your programs here! Next to the concession stand, you'll find a small shop where you can purchase programs, posters, as well as other merchandise (i.e. stickers, postcards, key chains, etc)  on the current films playing in the theater.

SHH! Once inside your selected theater, you'll find the same stadium setting, but maybe a little nicer. When the lights dim, and the movie starts, the one thing I always notice is that the audience goes silent...I mean REALLY silent. No laughing, no cry, no frightful screams, no emotional response, no nothing. After the film is over, everyone remains in their seats until the credits are finished and the house lights come back on.

I thought this was a cute and clever marketing touch to stick these mirror frames throughout the mirrors in the women's restroom.

This is the only Snow White-esque image I have.

I hope you enjoyed this post :)

What's the movie experience like where you are? What's the last film you saw at the theater? What are your favorite snacks?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Pat Me A Mani As Fast As You Can!

Hi guys,

This weeks mani is an old Spring/Summer favorite...Mac's Nail Lacquer in Peppermint Patti. Peppermint Patti was released in Mac's Sugarsweet Collection back in 2009.

 Natural light.

Peppermint Patti is a creamy mid-tone vibrant jade-celadon green with a yellow undertone.

With flash.

This polish SCREAMS Spring! The only drawback with Peppermint Patti lies with its watery formula. Although the nail polish goes on kind of streaky, it's not difficult to work with, and all signs of unevenness are gone after three coats. I've been wearing this polish for three days now, and I've already received several compliments, a girl who works at my local drugstore even stopped to ask me what I was wearing on my nails. With all the new polishes I've been adding to my collection, I've totally neglected Peppermint Patti and forgotten how much I love it. Peppermint Patti is simply BEAUTIFUL!!!

What are some of your favorite greens for Spring/Summer?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Chanel & June

Hello everyone!

Today's manicure features Chanel's Le Vernis Nail Colour in June, Released earlier this year with the Harmonie de Printemps 2012 Spring Collection.

 Natural light.

June is a creamy apricot.

With flash.

Regrettably, I'm going to have to say that this polish was a total miss for me. I found the formula to be thin, and difficult to work with. Also, even after three coats, the application was uneven and left bold spots. June is definitely one of those "I'll take with me to the nail salon and have the manicurist deal with the hassle of application" polishes. I really wanted to love June, since I adore the color...but with the unevenness in application and the fact that the tips of my nails look lumpy due to the numerous coats i had to apply, this polish is a total disappointment!

If you purchased June, I'd love to hear what you thought about it?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Running on Empty: May Empties!

May has finally come to an end and this is a post that I've been looking forward to...my May empties :)

Joico K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor (the smaller tube). I did not like this conditioning treatment at all! The consistency was that of an airy mousse...and when rubbed on the palms, it just melted and disappeared. I found this product left my hair feeling drier and tangled. I will not repurchase or recommend

Joico K-PAK Moisture Intense Hydrator. My hair loved this product! I used the Moisture Intense Hydrator once a week after a clarifying shampoo; it left my hair feeling soft, moisturized and tangle free...the complete opposite of the Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor. I will be Repurchasing this product!!

L'Oreal Elseve Damage Care Pro. I purchased this leave-in condition after I ran out of my Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique. I use this product as an extra treatment after deep conditioning my hair. This  product leaves my hair feeling very soft and moisturized. I would repurchase.

Redken Smooth Down Conditioner. Redken Smooth Down is one of my staple shampoo and conditioners. Smooth down really leaves my hair looking and feeling soft, shiny and keeps the frizzies at bay. I go through conditioners faster than shampoos, so I always buy a bottle of shampoo and two bottles of conditioner. Will never be without!

Alterna Bamboo Shine Luminous Shine Shampoo. I've tried and like some of other lines from Alterna, so I was looking forward to trying the Bamboo line. I wasn't impressed, actually, I was disappointed. Before conditioning, the Bamboo shampoo left my hair feeling dry, brittle and tangled...not good at all!

Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner. My second staple of Shampoo and Conditioners. My hair just drinks up all the benefits that the Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner offers. This brand is worth every yen, and I highly recommend!

Bath & Body Works Shower Gel in Sea Island Cotton. Great scent for Spring, very refreshing! I have and will continue to repurchase.

Bobbi Brown Cleansing oil. I believe this was a free gift with a Bobbi Brown purchase from Saks. I'm glad this was a free gift with purchase, because I would be kicking my own a@# if I bought this cleanser. This cleanser did absolutely nothing in removing my eye makeup (which it claims to do). I would have been better off just using vegetable oil.

L'Occitane Brightening Cleansing Foam (travel size bottle, since I cracked the standard bottle after dropping it...butter fingers :P). This cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and looking radiant. This is my favorite cleanser to using during Spring and Summer, since it's light weight, yet still moisturizing. Also, I love this cleansers refreshing scent. I've been using this cleanser for several years and I will always repurchase!

Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher (sample). I don't have an issue with enlarged pores, but this product did a lovely job at smoothing out the appearance of my skin on those dryer days. I love the way this product felt on my skin, like velvet!

Molton Brown Vitalising Vitamin AB+C Bath & Shower (sample) I believe I got this sample at barneys, I can't remember. This shower gel was ok. At first, I really liked it, but after a while, I found the scent (a orange/citrus mixing with a holistic vitamin store. Basically, it smells like a vitamin shop that uses pine-sol to clean it's floors) to be a bit overpowering. Won't purchase.

Murad Refreshing Cleanser & Intensive Wrinkle Reducer (sample). My skin did not like these products one bit! After using the cleanser my skin felt tight. The Intensive Wrinkle Reducer caused my skin to breakout in red blotches. I found it odd, that my skin had such an adverse reaction to these products, since my skin is pretty tough and I never have issues with sensitivity. Will not purchase!

Dry Idea AdvancedDry Unscented Deodorant. I purchased the AdvancedDry thinking, "why not ensure more antiperspirant coverage". I've been using Dry Idea as long as I can remember and I will continue to do so. I don't have any issues with underarm sweat/odor, but I am paranoid about it. Also, I don't like scented deodorants at all! I find scented deodorants nauseating (especially during Summer).

Covergirl Lashblastfusion Mascara in Black Brown, Black and Very Black. I like using this mascara for natural subtle understated day looks.

BareMinerals Mineral Veil (sample). I have no idea why I have so many of these BareMinerals samples, but this is the first one I've used up. It's a good product, but I wouldn't purchase a full size of this.

Mac Brush Cleanser. What can I say, I've been busy this month :)

Honorable mentions:

Korres White Tea Facial Fluid Gel Cleanser. I was able to get two uses out of this sample packet. It was good, but don't think I would purchase a full size bottle.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. I really liked this oil cleanser. If I'm ever in a pinch and without my trusty Shu Uemura Skin Purifier High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Enriched, I would definitely buy this oil cleanser. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is a more cost friendly version to the Shu Uemura Oil Cleansers.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Bath & Body Works' Shower Gel, Green Tea and Cucumber Essence

Another month, another shower gel!

Bath & Body Works describes this scent as a "calming fresh cucumber essence that is wonderfully infused with natural green tea, creating a soothing therapeutic scent", and I agree! Green Tea and Cucumber Essence is a refreshing, crisp, summery blend of cucumber, green tea and freshly cut grass. Sadly, Bath and Body Works has discontinued this fragrance line :(  After I checked my shower gel stash, I almost began hyperventilating the moment I realized that I was down to my last bottle of  Green Tea and Cucumber Essence Shower Gel! Green Tea and Cucumber Essence is one of my favorite summer shower gels and now it's gone! Oh well...there's always ebay right???

What fragrance are you enjoying at the moment?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.
