Deborah Milano Hi-Tech Blush in Cacao

Hey all!

Today is a new day, I got a package in the mail and I'm feeling a little bit better now ;)

My lovely friend Giada sent me the Deborah Milano Blush in Cacao, completing my Hi-Tech blush collection. Giada, you are heaven sent!! By the way, Giada, did you get my package???

Cacao is a semi matte rust brown with a slight tinge if a muted peach, and can be used as a blush, bronzer, or even to contour, depending on your skin tone.

I love the way Deborah blushes apply, how the feel on the skin and the glow they give my cheeks. If you can get your hands on these...buy them all!

Have you tried any of the Deborah Milano Blushes?

What happens when your man is in the kitchen...

Hi guys,

Yesterday I was feeling very sick, so Aki (my man) had to fend for himself in the food department.
Oh his way home, he bought some spring rolls from the grocery store. As he was about to microwave them, I suggested that the spring rolls would come out better (to his liking) if he toasted them, that way they wouldn't be soggy. So he followed my suggestion and did just that...

but he forgot to take them out of the plastic container. So after a good moment of both of us laughing, Who was it that said laughter was the best medicine??? Needless to say, we both ended up having the soup :D

Hope you guys enjoyed this story.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick (not spring roll) at a time.

Read All About It!!!!

Hello all,

I've been up since 7am and I'm feeling very ill  :(

I had plans to post some swatches and a look today, but at the moment...it's not happening. My head is pounding and the waves a nausea are just kicking my arse.  So instead of doing a beauty post, I looked up some random survey questions to share with you and hopefully you'll get a little more insight into my world  :)

Hope you enjoy!

What did you do last night? Watch breaking bad.

Are your parents divorced? No, they've been married for 36 years.

What is the one place you would love to visit right now? Hungary and Russia!

Have you ever been searched by the cops? When I was in Turkey, some officers (with machine guns) pulled us over to check our car.

Last thing you received in the mall? Makeup :)

How is your hair? Surviving!

What have to eaten today? Saltine Crackers.

Are you good at math? Yes, I love math!! Really...I do.

Do you like the ocean? Yes, I love the ocean, but in recent years, I've acquired a phobia of  swimming in the ocean...too many years of watching shark week :)

Do you stay friends with your ex's? Only the gay ones.

What are you dreading right now? Vomitting...sorry, but it's true. oh, and my credit card bill, that will probably make me vomit too :P

Could you live without a computer? Sad, but no.

Do you wear your shoes in the house? No.

What do you do when you're sad? Buy makeup.

Is anyone on your bad side right now? There's a list!

How would most people spell your name? In Japan, Riz, but it's Liz :D

Would you survive in prison? I'd be running the joint  >:)

If all of your friends were going on a road trip, who would most likely over-pack? Me

What color is your tongue? What am I a chow chow?!...pink, if not I need to be taken to the hospital.

Hope you all enjoy the randomness of this post. How knows...maybe you'll see this again in the future. Feel free to comment and post your answers if you like, I'd love to read them :)

Love this little guy, we always makes me feel better! Also, his teeth make me smile :D

Giorgio Armani Jacquard Eye Palette 2 Grey Eyes Swatches and Look

Hey everyone!!

I want to welcome everyone who recently joined So Lonely in Gorgeous, hi guys :D isn't Bloghop great!? It really means a lot to me that you've taken an interest in my blog and I'm looking forward to future friendships.

Yesterday, as I was rummaging through my eye shadow drawers(getting ready to go out), I came upon the Giorgio Armani Jacquard Grey Eyes Palette. I purchased this palette last year, but I never got around to using it. So, in keeping with my New Year's Resolution of using everything in my collection, I decided use my Giorgio Armani Jacquard Grey Eyes Palette for last nights look.

Here are swatches of the palette :)

Color description from left to right:

A silvered white with a sparkly pearl finish.

A shimmery pale silvered grey lilac.

A shimmery sandy taupe with a grayed mauve tinge.

A russet brick red with micro silver flecks.

Sorry for the slight blur, but these photo's where taken well after 2:00 am.

Frankly speaking, I prefer the Jacquard Grey Eyes Palette a bit then the Green Eyes Palette, and...I'm a girl who loves her green and purple shadows...oh, yes I do!

I was about to wash my face, when I decided to give it another go and try to get a better picture of my look. Still failed but at least it's not as orange...right??? :)

To my surprise, the Giorgio Armani Jacquard 2 Palette in Grey Eyes is still available. Odd, since the colors in this palette are AMAZING!!!! The taupe and brick eyeshadows alone are worth getting palette...actually the silvered grey lilac is very pretty too. This palette retails for $59 and is available at: nordstrom.com, giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com and neimanmarcus.com.

Le Metier De Beaute's Urban Dweller Nail Lacquer

Hey guys,

Yet another cold over cast day here in the land of the rising sun. Today's nail polish is Urban Dweller, from Le Metier De Beaute's Fall/Winter 2011 'East Meets West' Nail Lacquer Collection.

Finally some sunlight, I guess there was a break between some clouds.

Le Metier De Beaute describes this color as "a rich chocolate with gold effervescence ( never heard of the word effervescence used to describe a nail polish before, but I'll run with it :P)" but I believe there's a lot more to this polish than described. Urban Dweller is a rich plum tinged burnished bronze with gold, copper and green shimmers.

You can see more of the gold, copper, and green shimmers in this photo.

The texture of Urban Dweller's formula was a bit thicker than the usual polishes from this brand. The first coat does apply a little streaky but that's all corrected after the second coat.

Urban Dweller retails for $10 (.14oz/ 4ml) and is a limited edition polish. Before writing this post, I checked online and it's still available through neimanmarcus.com, nordstrom.com and bergdorfgoodman.com.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

You've Really Blushed Me: Inglot Blush Palette # 2

.

Hi guys,

Here is the second post on another one of my Inglot blush palettes. There's no need for me to go into further details on how great I think these blushes are since I've already done that in the first post. In case you missed that one, here is the link:  http://solonelyingorgeous.blogspot.com/2012/02/blog-post_16.html.

From top to bottom: 55, 57, 33 and 54.

From left to right: 55, 57, 33 and 54.

Color descriptions are from left to right:

Face Blush 55: A muted matte mauve pink.

Face Blush 57: A muted brownish-medium pink with micro sparkles.

Face Blush 33: A muted mauve redden brown with micro sparkles.

Face Blush 54: A muted reddish-burgundy with micro sparkles.

The micro sparkles basically disappear during application leaving a semi-matte sheen.

Stay tuned for the next Inglot blush palette post :)

Sweets to the sweet look

Hi guys!

So here is the look I wore the other night to dinner.

I was trying to capture something soft and 19th century romantic. So, while looking through one of my art history books, I drew inspiration by a painting by Hans Makart and some chocolates...I know what you're thinking..."chocolates" but it will all make sense in the end...or at least I hope it will :P

Yes, I need to do my roots but I haven't had the time, and I like that grown out roots look anyway.

Look Breakdown
Face:
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Santa Fe (Medium 2).
Shu Uemura Hard Formula brow Pencil in Seal Brown.
Mac blush in tenderling.
Eyes:
Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener
Mac Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW25
Mac Eye Shadow in Jest (All over the lid).
Mac  Eye Shadow in Shag (in the crease).
Mac Eye Shadow in Corduroy (in the outer V and the lower lashline).
Mac Eye Shadow in Handwritten (used to line the upper lashline).
Mac Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Tendered (lower waterline).
Mac Plush Lash Mascara (upper and lower lashes).
Lips:
Mac lipstick in Viva Glam III.

Got home, slipped into a rocker-t, about to wash my face when I decided to take a pic with this AWESOME chocolate goodness!! I fear for my waist line  :(

This is the other influence for my look.

The night before, my good friend Naoki stopped by to drop off  some gifts from his recent trip to Vienna, Austria. I had no idea that he was even out of the country. if I had known, I would have given him an extensive list of goodies to bring back. He got me these Mozartkugeln chocolates by Victor Schmidt. Naoki was surprised that I knew of these chocolates and had had them before. Actually, he was probably more in shock, since I kept screaming "Oh my god, I love these chocolates, over and over again :P   There was a website on the back of the box: www.manner.com, so now I can stock up on these yummy bon bon's of joy whenever I like!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Looking gorgeous one lipstick (and a few chocolates) at a time.

Canadian Maple Leaf by OPI

Hello darlings,

It's 36 degrees F(2 degrees C) today and while most brands are flooding the beauty market with their Spring collections, it's just too cold for me to want to wear the pastels and more vibrant colors normally wore during the upcoming seasons (Spring doesn't officially start til March 20th). So until then...or until the weather warms up and starts to feel like spring, I'll continue to capitalize on  my winter colors :)

 indoors

Canadian Maple Leaf is a brown tinged deep pinkish cranberry with a bluish violet shimmer. This was a limited edition polish and it came out way back in the fall of 2004 with the Canadian Collection.

Natural lighting

It takes about three to four coats to get the same color as seen in the bottle. Canadian Maple Leaf is such a pretty color, that I don't mind applying an extra coat or two. This polish wears beautifully without any chipping or peeling and on my nails it lasts up to one week.  I simply adore this polish!!!! After writing this post, I think I may need to go online hunting and buy a back up. Thank goodness for online shopping,  TALLY-HO!!!:D

If anyone knows a dupe for Canadian Maple Leaf, let me know.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Sweets To The Sweet: Belated Valentine's Day Chocolates

Hey All,

Valentine's Day was celebrated a bit late this year since my special someone was away on business, but they're back now, so bring on the chocolates.

Valentine's Day is celebrated a bit differently here than in the states. In Japan, the girl is the one to shower her beau with boxes of chocolate confections. Apparently, the more you receive the more you're loved...but that may just be a scam to get you to buy more chocolates and help the economy :P

Here's what I got my guy :)

Wittamer Chocolates are my all time favorite chocolates!! These are the only chocolates I would ever give as a gift.

I want to eat this entire box.

 Someone could wait...

I'm pretty proud of myself, I didn't got overboard as I normally do.

Here is the link to their website: http://www.wittamer.com/fr/shop/index.php.

You really need to try these chocolates at some point in your life.

We just got back from dinner and it's almost midnight, so I'll post my makeup look tomorrow.

Wishing you all the best and love,

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

You've Blushed Me Over: Inglot blush Palette # 1

Hey sweeties,

This will be the first post on my Inglot blush palettes. Inglot is one of my favorite cosmetic brands and I believe their Freedom System is ingenious.

Inglot's Freedom System allows you to custom build your own face, eyes and lips palette. Offering a variety of color selects and endless amounts of fun :)

From left to right: 20, 36, 38, 56.

Face Blush 20: A matte pale yellow based pink.

Face Blush 36: A matte blue based medium pink with micro silver sparkles.

Face Blush 38: A pale cerise pink with a subtle shimmer.

Face blush 56: Similar to 36 but a bit deeper pink with a bluer undertone. This blush also has micro silver sparkles.

Inglot's Freedom System Blush Palettes hold up to four blushes at 7g/ .25 oz each. The palette itself retails for $14.00 and the blush pans are $10.00 each.

Inglot blushes are extremely pigmented, so heavy handed ladies BEWARE!! These lovelies wear for a good amount of time, about five to six hours and they don't oxidize after they've mixed with your skins natural oils.

I truly love these blushes for there quality and performance. My only issue with Inglot (as a whole) was the price increase of the freedom system palettes some months ago. The freedom blush palettes used to retail for $6 per palette and the blush pans were $9.00, a total increase of $13.00; but hey, it's still a great system and even more so, a great deal based on the amount of product you get.

Have you tried any of Inglot's blushes?

My Mani Valentine..Revlon's Valentine Nail Polish

Happy V Day to all! and the "V" stands for vendetta :P

Valentine is a gorgeous deep rich red polish. A classic shade of a deeper red that doesn't lean towards the blue, orange, brown or pink tones in red, it's just a pure/neutral red. The formula is a shiny creme that runs a bit on the thin side, that takes three coats to achieve the same shade as seen in the bottle.

Taken indoor by the window with no flash.

If you live in Tokyo, you know how dark and dreary of a day we are having today. Fitting for a day or love...no?

Even though Revlon's valentine isn't an original color by any means, it's still a very beautiful classic polish.

What will you be wearing on V Day?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Hello, Dolly! Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner

Hey guys,

I just got in from running some errands and one of the things I picked put was a new Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner. My other Dolly Wink liner finally died on me :'(

Dolly wink is a Japanese Cosmetic brand that offers a various range of beauty products; such as eye shadow, blush, mascara, eyeliner, false lashes, etc.

Instead of going for the regular pale pink with black polka dot packaging, I decided to pick up this limited edition hot pink with purple packaging. Thought it would be cute for the warmer season to come :)

Dolly Wink is one of the favorite liquid eyeliner pens. This liquid eyeliner has such a fine tip that it makes precise application and detailing a breeze! Although it's not the blackest of black, it's still a great deep black color (as the name would suggest :P). Also, dolly wink holds up pretty while against sweat and water and doesn't smudge easily. I believe I paid 1,290 yen ($16.62), the regular retail price for Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner.

Although this is a Japanese brand, you can find this product for sale online through various vendors, or you can just ask me :)

Here is a link to one of the vendors how offer the Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner:

http://www.sasa.com/SasaWeb/eng/product/viewProductDetail.jspa?itemno=104328002010

And finally, I want to welcome Charisse, x3muffindoll, Sabs, and Erika to So Lonely in Gorgeous!! Hello ladies and thank you for taking an interest in this blog :)

What is your favorite Liquid eyeliner?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Le Metier De Beaute's Heat of the Night

Hey beauties,

Today's mani is Le Metier De Beaute's Heat of the Night. Heat of the Night was part of the 'Rock 'n' Romance' mini nail lacquer set. This set was a Nordstrom exclusive and came out last year during their anniversary sale. Le Metier De Beaute's 'Rock 'n' Romance set retailed for $25 and included four .14fl oz/ 4ml mini polishes.

I would describe Heat of the Night as being a shimmery blackened caramelized sugar maroon red, kinda reminds me of a darken sarsaparilla. I can't begin to tell you how much I love this polish. The formula of this lacquer is godsent, providing divine application. Basically opaque in one coat but my OCD required two :) While lovely indoors, Heat of the Night truly comes to life in the light (that rhymed, not intentional...); the red shimmers sparkle vividly, giving my nails this radiant burning glow. Honestly, I can't stop staring at my nails whenever I wear this polish, my little piece of decadence in a bottle.

Unfortunately, none of these photos truly capture the beauty of this polish...but enjoy anyway :)

Although this was a limited edition Nordstrom exclusive, you can still get your paws on this set through nordstrom.com. As I was checking on it's availability, I was surprised to find that it was still available. I highly recommend this is set, you won't be sorry!!!!

Go Beyond The Cover!

Hello beauties,

You have to watch this video!!! The transformation just blew me away. I used to use dermablend to cover up my tattoos but it can get a bit messy depending on certain weather (i.e. hot and humid summer days).  Having Tattoos in Japan can be a bit of an inconvenience. Since many places have a "no tattoos" policy, such as public hot springs and  fitness clubs.

The gym I used to go to had a very strict "no tattoo" policy. If you had a tattoo you couldn't be a member and if they found out you had a tattoo, your membership would be cancelled. So before leaving home, I used to have wrap my left leg up to hide my tattoo. The people at the gym most of thought I had a very bad leg :P Also, I wasn't able to change before or after my workout since I have tattoo's on my back as well. It was a big pain, so I ended up cancelling my membership after a few months.

Here is the original link where I found this clip:

http://www.gizmodo.jp/2012/02/whered_that_tatooed_guy_go.html

Hope you enjoyed the clip :)

Integrate by Shiseido's Lash Esteron Girl Mascara

Today's post is on Integrate by Shiseido's Lash Esteron Girl Mascara.

A few day's ago, as I was getting ready at a friend's place, I realized I forgot to pack a mascara in my makeup bag ( don't you hate it when that happens!!!) . So I ran to Fukutaro ( Japan's equivalent to Walgreens or CVS ) to purchase one. Integrate by Shiseido's Lash Esteron Girl Mascara retails for 1,260 yen ($16.35 in the states).

To be honest, the sole reason I went with this mascara was because of the cute packaging and wording. "Celebrate long thick lashes", isn't that what we all want to do??? Regrettably, this mascara couldn't be any further from the wording on its tube.

The Integrate by Shiseido's Lash Esteron Girl Mascara comes with a curved wand. Curved wards are not a personal fav of mine but I can make due or just bend them straight.

I found The Integrate by Shiseido's Lash Esteron Girl Mascara to be completely useless. The only pluses to this mascara is that it didn't flake or smear; but neither did it give volume, thickness, or hold a curl. Now, just to be sure I wasn't being to critical of this mascara, I wore it for the last three days and I still hate it.  Integrate by Shiseido's Lash Esteron Girl Mascara has to be one of the worst mascaras I've tired in a while. If you live in Japan or anywhere this product is sold...do not buy it!!!

What has been worst mascara you've purchased?
