Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

Hello lovelies,

Two weeks ago, my sister sent me some Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadows, but I wanted to test them out and make sure they lived up to their "24hr" claim (which they didn't) before posting anything on them.

From left to right: Fierce & Tangy, Bold Gold, Bad to the Bronze, Tough as Taupe, Pomegranate Punk, Audacious Asphalt.

Fierce & Tangy: An electrified carrot juice orange.

Bold Gold: A shimmery medium-toned yellow-gold.

Bad to the Bronze: A metallic taupe-bronze.

Tough as Taupe: A cool toned matte wet concrete grey with a purple-mauve undertone.

Pomegranate Punk: A Shimmery brown based plummy-pomegranate-burgundy.

Audacious Asphalt: A shimmery bluish-gunmetal grey with a slight greenish tinge.

I get about 9 hours of wear with the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadows...and for reference, I don't have oily eyelids- my skin type is normal to dry.

I really enjoy Maybelline's Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadows; they work well as a base or worn alone, as a wash of color on the lid. They blend easily, don't crease or fade (for at least 9 hours anyway), are perfect for summer, since that's when I tend to swatch to cream eyeshadows and blushes.

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadows retail for $6.99 each. But, I believe my sister purchased these eyeshadows during a "buy one get one 50% off" promotion.

Have you tired the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Eyeshadows? If so, What's your favorite shadow?

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Another package!

Hi guys,

I Just love coming home to find lovely cosmetic care packages waiting for me :)

After removing all the non-makeup related items from the box, this is what we're left with.

Update 05/30/12:

I purchased all these items, had them sent to my friend Alex's house, then sent him the money via paypal for the shipping fees and once there was enough items to fill the box, he sent it to me. The only Cosmetics I buy in Japan, are either Japanese exclusive items/releases or Japanese cosmetic brands.

What's the last thing you received in the mail?

June 2012 Issue of Vogue Japan...Come Flip Through Some of the Pages With Me

On my way home, I stopped by a book store to pick up June's issue of Vogue Japan. I thought it would be fun to share some of the pictorials from the magazine.

Head piece: Rochas. Sunglasses: Piers Atkinson. Top: Jil Sander.

I adore the sunglasses in the photo above (don't be surprised if you see me wearing them in the near future :P) and I'm intrigued by the texture and colors of the head piece.

Top & shorts: Balenciaga. Sunglasses: Hotel De Ville. Bangle: David Webb.

Love the Hair and the bangles in both the photo above and below, but I'm not sure about the semi-tiger print shorts above. This is an outfit that I can see Yuli from yuliconversations.blogspot.com pulling off  :)

Top: Marc Jacobs. Shorts & belt: Balmain. Sunglasses: Cutler and Gross. Bangles: David Webb.

LOVE the two-toned Marc Jacobs print top, the shorts and the bangles, but I'm not a fan of the championship belt.

Top & Skirt by Emilio Pucci. Shoes by Charlotte Olympia.

I'm a big fan of prints and this print is just lovely. Also, I love how well those wedges work with the outfit.

The next three photo are just brilliant pieces of art. I would definitely hang these pictures up in my apartment.

Top & Skirt by DOLCE & GABBANA.

I have an affinity for black and white photos.

Top & dress by Oscar De La Renta.

Don't you just love the colors in the photo above...I do! I love this photo on so many different levels.

Top by Prada

Just Gorgeous!

I hope you enjoyed this post, I did! What's your favorite photo, or image that you've been loving recently? Please feel free to link it in the comments :)

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Nars 413 BLKR Single Eyeshadow

Hi dolls,

To my dismay (i.e. frustration), I no longer have access to the NARS U.S website. Therefore, I had to cash in one of my beauty chips and ask the kind, and marvelous Ms. Amy from cafemakeup.com to acquire this precious single shadow for me. So, thanks to her generosity and overall awesomeness, I was able to get my mitts on the NARS 413 BLKR eyeshadow. I truly don't no where to begin in expressing my gratitude and admiration towards Amy and her blog. Amy, I appreciate all that you've done for me, and I look forward to continuing to build our beauty alliance :D

413 BLKR eyeshadow is named after the NARS flagship store on 413 Bleecker Street in New York City.

413 BLKR is a lovely lavender-dove grey that leans a bit silver and has a subtle shimmer.

From left to right: 413 BLKR, Lhasa.

The swatches above show the differences between the two shadows; 413 BLKR is cooler in tone, and is more silver than gray. Whereas, Lhasa is a smidgen warmer (a deeper purple) and leans more towards taupe.

Amy also included some extra Chanel goodies in the package :O

At first, I was a bit hesitant in purchasing 413 BLKR, believing it would be too similar to Lhasa. But, after doing a swatch comparison, these two shadows are different enough to warrant owning them both :) I happy to add 413 BLKR to my collection of NARS eye shadow singles and I would highly recommend it to anyone :)

Inglot Freedom System 20 Eye Shadow Palette #2 Swatches

Hello lovelies!

Here's my second Inglot eye shadow palettes, hope you enjoy :)

Inglot's Freedom System allows you to custom build your own face, eyes and lips palette. Offering a variety of color selects and endless amounts of fun :)

Inglot's Freedom System offers a variety of eye shadow finishes: AMC, Pearl, Matte, Shine and DS (double shine).

From left to right: S48, DS495, AMC50, M361, S29.

S48: A frosty candy pink with red undertones and micro silver flecks.

DS495: A matte strawberry red with flecks of gold.

AMC50: Similar to DS495, except AMC50 leans more red.

M361: A matte peach.

M366: A matte Orange-coral.

From left to right: S29, M362, M382, P449, DS493.

S29: A pearlized pale icy pink with a cotton candy pink sheen and silver flecks.

M362: A matte bubblegum pink.

M382: A matte blue toned medium red.

P449: A pearlized red based rose.

DS493: A matte lilac purple with silver, pink and baby blue flecks.

From left to right: S39, S39, M392, S40, P441.

S39: A pearly violet-purple with silver flecks.

S39: No, this is not a typo. Apparently, the plastic case that housed the eye shadow single was numbered incorrectly and I was given the same color. Regrettably, this was not an isolated incident, the number on the label of six other eye shadow pans did not match the number of their plastic container. So, learn from my mistake and whether your ordering online or shopping in-store, remember to check the number on the bottom of the eye shadow pan!

M392: A matte deep violet-red-magenta.

S40: A darkened plum-purple with a pink sheen and silver flecks.

P441: A pearly blue based violet purple.

From left to right: DS464, AMC55, M379, M379, P428.

DS464: A matte terracotta with gold flecks.

AMC55: A matte brick with red flecks.

M379: A matte periwinkle blue.

M379: mislabeled eyeshadow #2.

P428: A pearly black based sapphire blue.

These eye shadows also work well on the cheeks and lips.

My favorite shadows from this palette are:

S48, DS495, AMC50, M361, S29, M362, M382, P449, DS493, S39, M392, S40, P441, DS464, AMC55, P428.

The Inglot Freedom System Eye Shadow Squares are priced at $5.00 each and the Freedom System Palettes range from $6.00- 35.00.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Macaroon

Hello lovelies,

Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter in Macaroon is a UK exclusive shade, but I was able to procure this gem through ebay.

In comparison to the other lip butters I own, I found macaroon to have a more pronounced shea and coconut scent.

Macaroon is a muted, reddened-guava with tiny gold sparkles. This lip butter is one of the more pigmented of this product range.

The gold sparkles are more apparent in this photo.

A little side note...

Last week, while I was in Ginza, I found a little shop selling the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters... So, yes, Lip Butters are in Japan now. The display only had six shades and they were priced at 1,500 yen ($18.88). I've said this before, and I'll say it again...even drug store makeup is expensive in Japan. Also, drug stores over here never have promo specials (i.e., buy one, get one free or buy one, get one at 50% off) like Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and other drug stores often do.

I've been wearing Macaroon this week, and I believe it's a pretty color for Spring/Summer. Macaroon is one of the more pigmented lip butter shades and quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Two's Company, But Three Is Just So Stunning! THREE Cosmetics Flash Performance Eyeliner Pencil swatches.

THREE is a relatively new Japanese cosmetics brand (I believe three launched in 2009), whose creative director is the innovative makeup artist extraordinaire, Rie Omoto. The company's name is based on its three fundamental values: natural, honest and creative.

On April 10th, THREE released three new shades of the Flash Performance Eyeliner Pencils: 06 Eye Kon, 07 Eye Doll, and 08 Eye On. I Purchased 07 Eye Doll and after some internal debating, I'm going back for 06 and 08 :P Also, I picked up 02 Eye Believe and 05 Eye Rock.

The rubber tip smudger blends the product out beautifully, never tugging nor dragging on the skin. Also, I was pleased  that the smudger was made of rubber because it's ideal for sanitation purposes.

From left to right: 02 Eye Believe, 05 Eye Rock, 07 Eye Doll (natural lighting).

Color description:

02 Eye Believe: A lavender taupe with a hint of mauve and micro silver flecks.

05 Eye Rock: A burnished black with micro gold, blue, red and green flecks.

07 Eye Doll: A tarnished olive khaki with micro gold and pink flecks.

From left to right: 02 Eye Believe, 05 Eye Rock, 07 Eye Doll (flash).

I've been using these liners for a month now and I absolutely adore them! The Flash Performance Eyeliner Pencils are extremely soft and creamy; allowing them to blend out easily or to create a sultry smoked out  look. Plus, these lovely liners are incredibly pigmented and, once applied, they won't budge. Although not marketed as waterproof, the Flash Performance Eyeliners didn't fade or disappear when they came into direct contact with water.

Currently, THREE is exclusively sold in Japan and can be found at the following counters located in Tokyo: Mitsukoshi (Ginza), Isetan (Shinjuku), Seibu (ikedukuro), Seibu (shibuya) and Hikarie (Shibuya) The Flash Performance Eyeliner Pencils retail for 3,150 yen ($39.48).

I Have The Best Clients!

I really love my job! It allows me to meet and make friends with some amazing people. Here's an email from one of those people :)

 Hi Liz,
C**** and I are both doing well.  We are knee-deep in our wedding planning for this coming November... in Maui!  =)  We just got back from a short trip there and are really excited to finally see the site where we'll be getting married!  =)  I do have to honestly tell you...  I did a trial make-up run when I was there, and I was sooooo not happy with the make-up artist recommended by our coordinator.  After the session, I mentioned to C**** how I totally missed your work and wished that you were able to do my W-day makeup!  I really liked how natural the look was and the colors you used when I saw the final pictures.  This woman, she did totally different techniques.  First of all, she used airbrush, which I had never had done before.  But the most surprising thing was...  after I washed my face, she didn't put any sort of primer or anything on my face and just directly started applying the colors!  I asked her about it and she said the airbrushing at the end will even out the skin and set all the makeup.  I don't know if that's the typical process with airbrushing is to have that final coat at the end?  I'm just soooo used to primer/foundation first!  So that was weird.  And she used the coffee tones on my eyes which made me looked too bronze-y and I never really like that palette with Asian skin tones even though it seems to get used a lot?  And she used false eyelashes on me as well...  she says it opens the eyes but I just found the overall look a bit too heavy/dark around the eyes.

By any chance, do you happen to know any makeup artists in Maui??  Gosh, like I said, I totally missed your work!!  =)

Anyways, thanks sooo much for all your beauty tips/products info.  How do I subscribe to your beauty blog?  Is it linked via your Facebook?  I just send you a Friends request on that, by the way!

It was great hearing from you...
Oh!  I found this crazy website with all these kitkat favors: napaJapan.com
Check it out!
Take care,
E**

E** and I share a love for KitKats, and I turned her onto all the seasonal flavors we have in Japan :)

A few days after this email, I got another one from her fiance ( I also did his makeup), here's his email:

Boy my missus sure wishes you were doing her makeup for the wedding. She was not happy with the one she got in the trial run. You should have seen the pout  Hope all is well over there in Japan. Should you find yourselves in the vicinity in November, we would love to have you there at the wedding. It's funny, E** is usually very slow to warm to people (including me) but she took to you so very easily. This poor makeup girl over here didnt stand a chance when i think about it.  Anyway. I hope some day we can get back over to Japan, perhaps for our honeymoon. If we do, would love to see you. C****

These email have inspired me so much, enough so, that I may find myself in Maui this November :P

By the way, blog hop is up to tenth event, so show your support and hop on over :)

Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Jo'Mina

Recently, I've been loving Illamasqua's Jo'Mina Nail Varnish.

 Natural light.

Jo'Mina is a sublime creamy electrified bright deepened pastel lilac with a reddish pink undertone. I've been wearing this polish for four days now and it hasn't chipped yet, a winner in my book!

With flash.

Jo'Mina is a gorgeous Spring/Summer shade and a color that I believe would look flattering on any skin tone. This nail lacquer retails for £13.50/ $14.00 (0.5 FL OZ/15 ml) and available at Illamasqua.com and Sephora.com.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Bath & Body Works' Shower Gel, 'Sea Island Cotton'

After the whole Horrid occurrence with BBW's Flowering Herbs, I forgot to post this months shower gel (Oops :P), Bath & Body Works 'Sea Island Cotton'.

Bath & Body Works describes this scent as a "clean scent, inspired by pure white cotton flowing in fresh ocean air". Sea Island Cotton's key fragrance notes are:  Cotton Blossom, Drenched Air, Fresh Linen, Soft Powder. This shower gel leaves me feeling/smelling fresh and clean. Sea Island Cotton does have a lovely fresh linen laundry with a slight ocean scent, perfect for these crisp cooler spring days we've been having lately. Also, Aki really likes this scent as well, so I'd say that this shower gel is male friendly :D Sea island Cotton is a shower gel that I will continue to repurchase and use during Spring/Summer.

Looking gorgeous one lipstick at a time.

Tag! Get To Know Me! And Another Versatile Blogger Award

Hi guys,

For the last two weeks my allergies have been out of control! I haven't been able to post any looks due to my eye allergies, hopefully it'll get better this week (crossing fingers)  Today, I've decided to combine the get to know me tag and the versatile blogger award  into one entry.

The lovely Demi from beautyandthemist.com tagged me to do the 'Get to know me tag' and the fashionably thrifty my mini bag from myminibag.blogspot.com awarded me with the Versatile Blogger Award. Thank you ladies :)

The Rules (combined of course :P):

1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves on the blog. The Versatile Blogger Awards states 7, so lets see how many I come up with :)
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you , as well as, creating your own eleven for the people you will tag.
3. Choose eleven people and link them in your blog. The Versatile Blogger Award also requires me to choose eleven bloggers, but I've already done this twice, so I'm going to skip this part.
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. No tags back.
6. You legitimately have to tag.

Fact about myself:

1. The last movie I saw was Drive Angry and I wanted to drive myself into a wall. I'm sorry, but why is  Nicolas Cage still working in Hollywood!!!
2. I don't drink or smoke.
3. Once a week I work with physical and metal disabled children.
4. I love rainy days/nights, but I only like rainy days when I don't have to go outside on that day :P
5. I love Henry Rollins!!
6. My favorite flowers are Dahlias, Orchids, And Lilies.
7. I lived in turkey for two and a half years (on and off).
8. My upstairs neighbors are very noise. I think their training the children from a marathon!
9. I have very bad allergies.
10. I hate celery and eggplant.
11. One of the things I regret about moving to Japan is leaving my children behind (and by children, I mean pets). My parents are taking care of them now.

Demi's questions:

1. Have you ever thought of quitting blogging?
 Nope!

2. What's your star sign?
Scorpio!

3. Who is your favourite actor/actress?
Sean Bean, Rachel Weisz and the list can go on and on :)

4. What would be the perfect gift for you?
Makeup or Anime.

5. Is there anything you don't like about blogging?
Originally, I thought no, but I have to agree with Demi on one of the things she wrote.  When someone posts on your blog how great they think your blog is, asks to follow each other, but I always have to follow first before they join my blog or they don't follow me at all. I'm not doing this (blogging) for a head count, I genuinely want talk to all of you, make friendships and support one another.

6. Can you describe your dream holidays?
At the moment, my dream holiday is to travel all over Eastern Europe, visiting all the historical sites, enjoy the culture, people and food. As well as, spending a obscene amount  of money shopping (i.e Makeup, clothing, shoes, etc).

7. What's one of your biggest goals for your future?
Making the best of every day.

8. Do you follow fashion?
No, I follow my own fashion instincts.

9. Have you got a favourite makeup brand?
This is hard, but here are a few: Nars, Chanel. Dior, Mac, Addiction, Revlon and Guerlain.

10. What kind of films do you prefer watching and what's your favourite movie?
Horror films, hands down! I have too many favorites to scale it down to just one, but one of the horror films I love is The Legend of Hell House and John Carpenter's The Fog (the original, not the crappy remake).

11. If you were a colour, what would it be?
Blood red.

My questions:

1. What is your favourite flower?
2. What is your favourite season and why?
3. What are you most afraid of?
4. What is one thing you really regret?
5. Name one celebrity that you don't like ?
6. If you were given the opportunity to star in any film genre of your choice, and you were also given the choice to pick your co star in that movie, what genre would you pick and who would you want to star with?
7. What was the last movie you saw, and how was it?
8. Current favorite Lipsticks/Lipgloss?
9. Current Favorite Blushes?
10. Current Favorite Nail Polish?
11. Current Favorite Eye Shadow?
