Every Rose Has Its Torn...Sabon Rose Tea Shower Oil

Let me preface this post by saying, I love Sabon! With that said, I didn't like March's body wash, the Rose Tea Shower Oil.

I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm not fan of rose-scented things. I know, I can hear you saying, "then why buy a rose fragranced shower oil, silly?!" Although I don't like rose, I am a big fan of tea scents, and hoped the tea would tame the former.

A limited edition release in Japan, the Rose Tea Shower Oil smelled nice in store; a good balance of tea, with a rose that wasn't noxious. However, after a week of use, the rose notes seemed to come to the foreground...and, not a "pleasant aroma to my sense of smell" way. I found myself using more pumps than needed, just so I can be the shower oil sooner.

Bloom As It May...Sabon Citrus Blossom

It happened. It actually, really happened; Sabon released a collection I didn't like. You all know my love for Sabon. But, the Citrus Blossom Collection was a HUGE disappointment.

Ever since I saw the collection, and it's pretty French country patterned packing on the Sabon US Site, I've been hoping and waiting for it to reach my shores. So, when it launched on June 15th, I rushed to one of the stores to claim my goods.

I purchased this cute box (I believe it was 1,400 yen) to assist in carrying my items back home.

The SA included a cute sample of the body gel polisher in musk.

Citrus Blossom Shower Oil: I love everything about the pattern, and the shape, of the tin bottle. For July's shower oil, the scent was bearable. However, I will admit to making extra pumps, so I can be done with it sooner.

Citrus Blossom Small Body Scrub: at first, I was a little sad the scrub came in the cute mini jar, but it was a blessing in disguise. Like the shower oil, I used more of the scrub than needed.

Citrus Blossom Fabric Softener: again, I adore the pattern and the tin bottle. Honestly, this was the most tolerant version of the fragrance among the lot. I used it to wash my towels, and Aki's clothes, he doesn't suffer from migraines.

When I tried the body scrub, shower oil, and butter hand cream in the store, I was confused by the scent. Sabon describes Citrus Blossom as a "mixture of fresh citrus scents - Clementine, Bergamot, Orange Flower with warm undertones of signature Patchouli, Vanilla, and Musk." The Clementine, Bergamot, Orange Flower notes faded very quickly, and all that was left was the undertone of, Patchouli; and, a WARM Patchouli, at that. For Spring/Summer seasons, I want fresh, airy, invigorating scents. The climate is hot enough that I don't need added "warmth" in my body wash and moisturizers.

In my opinion, nothing in the Citrus Blossom line felt Summery. Still, reluctant in my love for Sabon, I told myself, "I can make this work." Hence, I purchased the small body scrub, the fabric mist, the sorbet body gel, the butter hand cream, the shower oil, and the fabric softener.

After my purchase, I had a late lunch in the same building, and thankfully I did. While I was having lunch, the butter hand cream's warm patchouli scent was getting stronger, and stronger. The fragrance was unbearable, causing me to feel nauseous, as well as bringing on a migraine. In NO WAY would I be able to wear this during Tokyo's extremely hot, and humid, Summers.

I walked back down stairs and ended up returning the fabric mist, the sorbet body gel, and the butter hand cream. Citrus Blossom is a scent I didn't want lingering on my person, or vicinity.

I was drawn in by Citrus Blossom's French country patterned packaging, but the packaging (which I will recycle) wasn't enough to salvage this anticlimactic scent.

Spray Lavender Mist-y For Me...Sabon Lavender Fabric Mist

Continuing my love-on for Sabon, I finally purchased an item I've been wanting for some time now: the lavender fabric mist. I've never used linen spray before. However, being that this product is from Sabon, I'm game.

The fabric mist's thick, hefty glass bottle has a romantic vintage-like label, featuring images of faded rows of lavender (I assume this is meant to be Provence), the Eiffel Tower, and a two-lamp streetlight.

My only issue with the packaging is the color of the spray trigger head. Instead of a transparent white plastic, I wish the spray head was the same vintage bronze coloring as the shower oil's pumps; the color would match the label perfectly and add to the packaging's beautiful aesthetic.

As per the Sabon website:

"Based on a unique and safe formula that will not damage fabric. Sabon Fabric Mist refreshes and leaves a long-lasting, delicate and pleasant scent on clothes, furniture, linens, drapes, mattresses and closets."

All of the brand's scents have this unique signature blend of fragrances that unquestionably let's you know, "this is Sabon." The soothing scent of lavender is delicate, crisp and sophisticated. I want to spray everything with it! I've sprayed the lavender fabric mist of my throw pillows, my bedroom pillows, closets, and even inside my car. My favorite thing to do it spray all of the curtains in my apartment, open all the windows, and catch the scent as the breeze carries it through the room.

To my fellow lavenderophiles out there, you need a stockpile of this incredible mist.

In My Own Wonderland

Thanks to my beloved sissy Jane (of Wondegondigo fame), I'm able to prolong my obsession of Sabon's Exploring Wonderland Collection. Thank you Jane, and I heart you!

Yes, I got a bigger boat and purchased the 650ml size of the Wonderland Shower Oil. On a monthly basis, I never consecutively use the same body wash scent (I like to pair scents based on what I'm feeling that month). However, I'm in LOVE with the seductive notes of Bergamot, Mandarin, Musk, and notes of Rose and Violet of this collection, as well as how swimmingly it pairs with my winter hair products and perfume. February is just about over, and I'm almost at the half way mark of the bottle. Thus, the Wonderland Shower Oil will also be my body wash for March, and I'm perfectly content with that.

At the time the Exploring Wonderland Collection launched, I held off getting the body lotion and hand cream because I was in the middle of using some other products. Of course, when I was ready to purchase them, they were long gone (again, thank you Jane).

I adore the bohemian-esque etched detailing of the red frosted glass, and label print, of the body lotion; it truly adds to the pampering experience. Same amazing Wonderland scent, the body lotion is full of Omega 3,6,7,9, and Vitamins A+ E, and Formulated with Olive, Avocado, Borage, Wheat Germ Oils. My skin drinks up the body lotion, leaving it smooth and moisturized, without feeling sticky.

It's a shame to keep this hand cream concealed in my bag, because the tube's pattern and colors are so beautiful, I want to display it. Not only does it keep my hands soft, and hydrated, the hand cream absorbs quickly leaving no greasy residue, and smells heavenly.

I'm going to have to buy backups of all the products from the Exploring Wonderland collection because they're limited edition (I really need this line to be made perm), and I don't want to be without them next winter.

We're All Mad For Sabon Here...Exploring Wonderland Shower Oil & Body Scrub

The fantastical promotional imagery, in-store displays, and product packing from Sabon's Exploring Wonderland 2016 Christmas Collection had the Alice in Wonderland lover in me wondrously captivated.

The delicately, rich brew of Bergamot, Mandarin, Musk, and notes of Rose and Violet gives the Exploring Wonderland Collection a dark, seductive scent that is spellbinding. The fragrance lingers on the skin (at stays on my towels) for a long time, and couples marvelously with my winter perfume (post coming soon).

The thick, heavy, sleek, opaque obsidian black glass bottle, along with the patterned print label, of the shower oil is absolutely gorgeous.

cvcvc The shower oil is available in two sizes, 330ml and 650ml. When I saw how massive the 650ml bottle was, I thought to myself, "I'm gonna need a bigger bath, " and went with the 330ml.

After using Wonderland for over two weeks now, I want the 650ml.

Continuing with the stunning packaging, the Wonderland Body Scrub comes in a comely, red frosted glass jar. Again, I love the patterned design of the label.

I'm infatuated with the entire Exploring Wonderland collection. The packaging and scent have an enchanting appeal, making an exquisite coupling perfect for winter.

Vanilla Showers...Sabon Shower Oil

For December's body wash, I chose Sabon's Vanilla Shower Oil. Sabon has a way of giving all their fragrances a luxurious, delicate sophistication, and this month I'm all about the brand's ambrosial Vanilla scent. An exquisitely, finespun, redolent scent of vanilla; I couldn't wait to bathe in this shower oil! Actually, this shower oil was the key reason why I purchased Giovanni's Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub. I thought the marriage of the two scents would be glorious, and they are! I feel and smell exceptionally delicious when I use both of these products. I truly adore Sabon's Vanilla shower oil, and, although it can be used year round, I partially like using it during the winter season, and it's my first step to get me into the holiday cheer.

Off To The Tropics...SABON Tropic Body Scrub

For my summer Sabon body scrub, I chose the scent, Tropic. This is my third time purchasing Tropic, and I recall its fragrance being a medley of pineapple, coconut, mango and vanilla. However, this time around, whenever I get a whiff of the scrub, the first thing that comes to mind is a tropical version of Juicy Fruit gum.

I'm not sure if Sabon has altered any of its ingredients, but perhaps it's my memory deceiving me. Regardless, the Tropic body scrub still smells great, and its fragrance layers harmoniously over my body wash, and under my body cream.

Don't Be Rough On Yourself...Sabon Lemon Loofah Soap

If I'm not in converse, summer is all about exposing my feet in sandals, or flip flops, and in search of any form of ventilation I can find. With all the walking I do in Tokyo, my feet really go through the ringer. Sabon's Loofah Soap is a must-have for me to maintain my pedicure, and keep my talons respectable between my bi-weekly appointments.

I think this natural loofah (sea sponge) embedded in a glycerine-based soap looks really neat, doesn't it?! It looks kind of like a preserved fossil. The soap can be used on any rough patch on your body; I mainly use it to exfoliate my feet. Towards the end of my shower, I scrub all over my feet, focusing along the top of my toes, the ball of my feet and heels. Afterwards, the dead skin on my feet are gone, leaving them smooth, soft and open-toe shoe ready!

That said, if your heels are in need of some heavy-duty, major scrubbing, you're going to have to use one of those pumice stone/sandpaper sandblast buffing tools first; this loofah soap is more of a polishing upkeep and preventative of future cracks, peeling or calluses spots.

In Japan, Sabon's Loofah Soap retails for 1,000 yen, and are available in three sublime fragrances: Amber, Lemon, and Lavender. All three scents linger on the skin, and I enjoy all of them...but, since it's summer, I'm all about the Lemon.

Stop And Bathe In The Lavender...Sabon Lavender Shower Oil

I know it's a little premature, but when May rolls around, my keenness for Lavender becomes compulsory.

Sabon's Shower Oil in Lavender is a refreshing, delicate, soothing scent of lavender that is wrapped in a luxury synonymous with the brand.

I love the heavenly fragrance, and silky feel, of this shower oil so much, I have to stop myself from going overboard on the pump. In the mornings, Sabon's Lavender is a perfect boost to help me start the day, as well as unwind, and ease into my evenings.

Love Me, Scrub Me...Sabon Lavender Apple Body Scrub

With an occasional infidelity (solely based on curiosity of a scent), SABON Body Scrubs' are the only ones I use.

Depending on the season, I like to route between all the SABON scents, and Lavender Apple (one of my favorite scents from the brand) is a definite Spring must have!

A delightful combination of soothing lavender and sweet apple
(saying it smells AMAZING is an understatement!), Lavender Apple is an engaging delicate scent that lingers on the skin; I can't help sniffing my forearms throughout the day. Also, I find the scrub's salmon-pink color adorable.

Blue Never Smelled so good...Sabon Blue No.533 Body Scrub

Sabon's Motto is "The Essence Of Pleasure" and the brand's Body Scrubs (along with all their products) are just that, an experience in pleasure and luxury.

Funny, the last time I posted something on a Sabon Body Scrub was exactly one year ago to date. When Winter started, I choose the scent Blue No.533 from the brand's men's collection.

Blue No.533 has more of a masculine scent. Even so, its fragrance notes of Fresh Citrus Tree, Sandalwood, Rose, Patchouli, and others, make Blue No.533 a lovely fragrance for both sexes.

I use Sabon's body scrubs about two to three times a week; and, they contain finest natural ingredients of Dead Sea Salt, and some natural oils, like Vitamin E, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Borage Oil. These scrubs keep my skin impeccably moisturized and soft, keeping all itchiness at bay, as well as smelling divine!

I Must Have My Ginger & Orange! SABON Shower Gel

I popped into Sabon to pick up the Shower Oil in Ginger Orange; however, I was seduced by the dark brown-amber-colored glass bottle of the shower gels, and got the Ginger Orange scent in that line instead.

As per the website, the shower gels are a "gel-based liquid soap enriched with ocean seaweed extract to nourish and revitalize the skin." Seaweed is rich in vitamins and minerals, and a fantastic agent in skincare with it's vast range of benefits. I've never tried Sabon's Shower Gels, so, I was eager to see how it would compare to the shower oils I love dearly.

I've used the shower gel twice, and found it had a rich, velvety lather, and left my skin feeling soft and clean. Even though my skin doesn't feel the least bit dry or tight, I will say I find the shower oils more moisturizing.

Of the Sabon fragrances I've tried, Ginger Orange has more of a clean, masculine cologne scent (the fragrance is familiar to a men's cologne, but I just can't put my finger on the name), and the ginger gives it a delicious spicy twist. I enjoy the balance of rich and fresh scents without being overpowering, absolutely lovely for the beginning of Fall.

A Musky Scent That Spoke Of Opulence...Sabon Musk Body Scrub

I've been lackadaisical with my exfoliation routine this Winter...and boy, has my skin paid the price. My skin has been incredibly itchy this season, and although I moisturize, I should have also been exfoliating to expose healthier skin cells to the surface.

So, being in the market for a body scrub, I, of course, turned to my favorite brand: Sabon. This time around, I went with an uncharted scent and choose Musk.

Musk scents can come across as being very abrasive and smelling "old." However, with their luxurious, quality ingredients, Sabon's Musk has this crisp, rich, woody fragrance without being overwhelming.

I'm not sure when this started, but the body scrubs (at least in Japan) now come with a cute little wooden scoop. It isn't as nice as the one they sell for 200 yen, but it get the job done.

Washing My Hands with it...Sabon Lavender Apple Liquid Hand Soap

I feel a little strange doing a hand wash post, but I feel this is a product that doesn't get much thought given to its importance.

You may not be consciously aware, but whether you're shaking someone's hand, making a gesture, giving or receiving something, your hands draw more attention then you know. Your hands are one of the first parts of your body to show aging. So, the first line of defiance is investing in a good hand wash that will thoroughly cleanse, without stripping away moisture.

Sabon's liquid hand soaps are glycerin-based (glycerin cleanses, helps to restore hydration, and retains moisture), enriched with chamomile (chamomile soothes, and promotes cell regeneration), aloe vera (aloe vera moisturizes and fights aging), as well as being SLS and Paraben free.

I wash my hands a lot, not in an OCD or germaphobic way, but often. This hand wash leaves my hands feeling cleansed, hydrated, and silky smooth. I love, love, love, LOVE the scent of Lavender Apple; it's one of my favorite fragrances from Sabon. After washing my hands, I can't help cupping my nose, and smelling my hands...now, there's an awkward visual for you.

I adore all things Sabon, and shopping there is truly an experience. The store's exterior, interior, and product packaging makes you feel as if you've stepped into a luxurious, Edwardian Apothecary. If you've never been to one of their stores, it's a must!

The SA asked me if the hand wash was a gift, which I jokingly told her it was a gift to myself. So, while I was distracted making my purchase, she went ahead and wrapped the bottle all cutely.

Sabon's Liquid Hand Soap contains 200ml, and retails for 2,160 yen.

Lizzy Loves Mango Kiwi! SABON Shower Oil in Mango Kiwi

August's body wash is Sabon's shower oil in Mango Kiwi, released this Summer as part of the limited edition 'Sweet Summer Series'. Outside of Japan, the Mango Kiwi scent is part of the permanent lineup, I wonder why that's so?! Mango Kiwi is a delicious, sweet (but, not repugnant sweet) fruity blend of mango, kiwi, and pear. Generally, I'm not a fan of mangoes (the fruit), and I'm deathly allergic to kiwi, but this fragrance is incredible! I'm in LOVE with this scent! So much so that whenever I use it, I can't stop smelling myself...that sounds bad, but it's true.

SABON's Shower Oils contain 500ml (so most likely this will be September's body wash as well), and retails for ¥3,200.

Worth Its Salt...Sabon Lemon Mint Body Scrub

Phenomenal is the best way I can describe Sabon's entire product lineup, and the body scrubs are no exception. The mixture of deep sea salt, dead sea mud, soybean oil, sweet almond oil, and other natural ingredients, leaves my skin silky smooth, baby soft, and marvelously moisturized. After use, this body scrub does leave a dry oil feeling on the skin, but it's oily or sticky. The scent of this product is AMAZING and it lingers on the skin for several hours. This is my first time trying Lemon Mint, and I love the cooling sensation of Lemon Mint; thus, fulfilling all my lemony-mint needs. Other Sabon body scrub scents I've tried, LOVE, and recommend are: Patchouli Lavender Vanilla, Vanilla Coconut, and Lavender Apple.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit a Sabon store, I guarantee it will be an experience in pure luxury. In the past, I've tried many body scrubs, and Sabon's is my all-time favorite...and the only one I will use! In Japan, Sabon's Body Scrubs retail for ¥5,000 ($50.26).

Ca Va? SABON BIEN!

SABON offers an array of luxurious bathing, skincare, fragrance, and aromatic products. Since its establishment in 1997 in Tel Aviv, SABON has expanded Internationally with stores in Israel, Italy, Belgium, Romania, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States.

SABON's Patchouli Lavender Vanilla Shower Oil is liquid luxury! I've been sniffing this shower oil as I write this post, and the best way I can described this scent is "YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE" luscious. A lovely, subtle harmonization of lavender, vanilla, patchouli, and a bit of magic (yes, you can bottle it :P). Patchouli is a scent I avoid like the plague, but the patchouli is this shower oil is soft and sophisticated. Honestly, I can't get enough of this fragrance, I need this made into a perfume!!

The beautiful apothecary glass bottle (recyclable!), with the antiqued bronzed pump, gives the packaging a classic and elegant appearance.

The shower oil lathers wonderfully, leaving the skin soft, moisturized, without any oily residue. Love, love, love SABON's shower oils!
